EU law database
Direct free access to EU law is available at the site of EUR-lex. It is translated in all the 23 official languages of the EU. The online version of the Official Journal of the European Union, which contains public procurement notices in its Supplement, is also available through the site. The database can be searched in simple or advanced mode and can be browsed as well. The collections available include the treaties of the EU, international agreements that the EU has concluded, legislation in force, preparatory acts, case-law, and parliamentary questions. The database is useful for referring to the actual pieces of legislation relevant to allocation of grants and public procurement contracts. Problem-solving of Internal Market misapplication
SOLVIT is a free of charge problem-solving network in which EU Member States work together to solve without legal proceedings cross-border problems caused by the misapplication of Internal Market law by public authorities within Member States. It can be used as the first step in finding a resolution for a cross-border Internal Market problem that is encountered, so that filing of a legal complaint or pursuing burdensome legal actions is avoided. The network tries to provide real solutions within 10 weeks from the filing of the complaint by a citizen or a business. Areas in which it has provided assistance are employment rights, border controls, market access for products and services, public procurement, taxation, and free movement of capital or payments. There is a SOLVIT centre in each EU Member State and in Norway, Iceland, and Lichtenstein. EU Standards
All products entering the EU single market need to receive certification, which provides official compliance with EU requirements (EU standards) as set forth in the Community legislation. Compliance with EU standards through certification also ensures access to the markets of all 27 Member States since they have harmonized their criteria within the framework of the Single European Market.
