At the end of November 2009 the Bulgarian Parliament passed a number of amendments to the principal tax laws. The laws introducing the amendments were promulgated on 1 December 2009. The majority of the changes will become effective on 1 January 2010 although some changes will apply with retroactive effect, some changes entered in force on the date of promulgation, some changes will become effective on 1 April 2011 and some other will only enter in force on 1 January 2011.

This newsletter reviews the most significant changes in the Corporate Income Tax Act, the VAT Act, the Excise Duty and Tax Warehouses Act, the Local Taxes and Charges Act and the Personal Income Tax Act.
