< All News March 16, 2010 Bulgaria Sofia International Airport Activity Shows Increase

 Some 31,800 travelers flew from Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, to London, the most preferred destination, in February - an increase of 1,800 passengers compared with January, 2010.

However, Sofia International Airport has reported that the number of passengers who used the airport has remained almost static at 233,164 for three years.

The statistics for February 2010 record a 1.7% increase in the number of flights handled, to a monthly total of 3,399 planes in and out of the airport.

Winter season charter flights also increased, by 2%, compared with February 2009.

Despite unfavorable weather over the previous month, a trend of stabilization is continuing. Compared with February 2009, the movement of planes has risen by 3%, and the number of passengers has increased by 12%.

 

There was a 23% increase in the number of postal items transported, and a 7% increase in freight carried on normal passenger services.
